Verification bodies for ETS aviation
Verification bodies which carry out activities for the European emissions trading system (EU ETS) must be accredited by a national accreditation body from an EU Member State.
Accreditation of verification bodies
The national accreditation body for the Netherlands is the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA). The RvA's website contains more information on the verification bodies which have been accredited for EU ETS by the RvA.
The website of the European Cooperation for Accreditation (EA) contains details of the national accreditation bodies of other EU Member States.
Scope of verifier
The accreditation of a verification body must relate specifically to the verification of emissions data and tonne-kilometre data of aviation activities.
Guidance on verification
A guidance on verification has been drafted for aircraft operators, verifiers, competent authorities and accreditation bodies to provide a user friendly interpretation of the verification requirements in the EU ETS Directive and the Monitoring and Reporting Regulation.
