As an independent competent authority, the Dutch Emissions Authority (NEa) safeguards the realisation of national climate and renewable energy objectives.
The NEa takes a consistent approach, based on the following three key principles:
- Information and support
The NEa supports companies by providing them with information and resources to help them fulfil their obligations.
- Monitoring and enforcement
The NEa monitors whether companies fulfil their obligations, and takes enforcement action where necessary.
- Reporting and advice
The NEa uses its knowledge and experience to inform the government about results achieved, the consequences of implementation and any relevant developments.
